Eucalyptus gunni plug plants (Cider Gum)

Plug plants are 10-20 cm high seedlings grown in trays of small cells. They can be planted directly in the ground. There are 100 plug plants in a tray. Eucalypts should be planted at at a minimum of 1,667 plants per hectare although for short rotation forestry and in exposed conditions they will fair better at stocking densities of 2,000 – 2,500 per hectare. E. gunnii is the most “bulletproof” species being tolerant of exposure and frost. It is somewhat untidy and coppices freely. It is also slightly more difficult to cut and split for logs but will grow where others fail.
