Our plug plants are reared from seeds acquired from pure native species tree and shrub willows of known provenance. These are unique lines, and a tray of plants will demonstrate a normal distribution curve. The average growth rate will be far lower than productive SRC varieties and they will take longer to reach maturity.
The size of each plant is between 15 – 50cm in height from the root plug.
A productive willow often used for rough basketry and hurdles. It produces lots of slender stems when regularly coppiced. It’s a useful addition to an allotment garden or small holding as it provides lots of material for odd jobs. Use young stems or strip the bark to provide plant ties. Bend rods and plant as hoops to provide green leafy borders. Use stem wood as dowels. Back in Roman times the Osier was a mainstay of agroforestry systems.
